Tiny and Mighty – V2101, Rugged High-grade Intel® Atom Industrial Computer

Brea, CA, August 25, 2010 — Moxa is proud to release the V2101 Series, a world class rugged Atom embedded computer. With a palm size design, the V2101 Series features dual displays, lower power consumption and supports -40 to 85℃ operating temperature range.

The V2101 Series is based on the Intel Atom Menlow XL x86 processor, and features 2 serial ports, dual Gigabit LAN ports, 4 USB 2.0 hosts, and SD socket. The V2100 Series offers both VGA and LVDS outputs, making it particularly well-suited for industrial digital signage applications.

Versatile Interfaces

The V2101 computers’ 2 serial ports make them ideal for connecting a wide range of serial devices, and the dual 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports offer a reliable solution for network redundancy, promising continuous operation for data communication and management. As an added convenience, the V2101 computers have 3 DIs and 3 DOs for connecting digital input/output devices. In addition, the SD and USB sockets provide the V2101 computers with the reliability needed for industrial applications that require data buffering and storage expansion.

Dual Displays (VGA+LVDS)

The V2101 Series supports dual independent displays (VGA+LVDS) for field site monitoring. Compared to the current solution for LVDS resolution selection, Moxa's V2101 computers allow users to choose more panel resolutions by using individual data bit (18-bit or 24-bit) and channel selections (single channel or dual channel) separately. This is particularly convenient as users can reduce the effort and cost for the application implementation at the field site that requires different panel resolutions. The current solution only provides 16 options, while Moxa's V2101 computers can offer more than 64 resolution options. Meanwhile, the hot key design helps users to re-select the correct panel resolution when they have chosen the wrong one.

Small form factor with Rugged Design

The V2101 Series is designed in a small form factor with high performance processor and easy field site implementation. The V2101 Series supports a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85℃ for harsh industrial environments and highly efficient heat conduction with fanless design. And with 2G anti-vibrations and 20G anti-shock certification, the V2101 Series becomes more reliable when operating on moving objects.

Pre-installed Operating System

The V2101 Series runs pre-installed Linux, WinCE 6.0, or Windows Embedded Standard 2009, providing a friendly environment for developing sophisticated application software. Moxa provides powerful software to alleviate a programmer’s workload and makes it easier to develop bug-free code, saving valuable time and development costs.

Rcore Ready-to-Run Embedded Software Platform

All of Moxa's embedded computers come with the operating system pre-installed. In addition, BIOS, middleware, sample code, and tools are provided to give programmers a user-friendly environment for application development, essentially minimizing the effort for system integration.
