ITOX Releases WG-LS3440 PCI Express x16 Graphics Adapter -Long-Life Support Provided For Embedded Applications

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – July 15, 2010 – ITOX, a leading provider of embedded x86 products and the United States affiliate of DFI-ACP, today announces the new WG-LS3440 PCI Express x16 graphics adapter for embedded applications, with guaranteed availability to Q1’ 2014. An S3 Graphics Chrome® 440 GTX graphics processor with 256MB GDDR3 dual-rank memory provides DVI resolution up to 1920 x 1200 and VGA resolution up to 2048 x 1536 using dual independent DVI-I display connectors.

What embedded applications require an external graphics adapter?

  1. Next-generation Intel® CoreTM i7-860 or Intel® CoreTM i5-750 quad core processor platforms lack an integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA). This was necessary to keep the thermal design power (TDP) for these high-power quad core processors within package limits. Consequently all Intel® Series 5xx platform controller hub (PCH) based systems equipped with a quad core processor must use an external graphics adapter to provide support for display connectivity.
  2. Most embedded boards are equipped with a VGA display interface and perhaps DVI and HDMI display interfaces. Applications requiring support for two or even three independent DVI displays can be supported using the ITOX WG-LS3440 PCI Express x16 graphics adapter. Intel® Embedded Graphics Drivers (IEGD) version 10.3.1 provide full support for dual and triple independent hybrid display support on Intel® 4xx and 5xx Series chipset platforms.
  3. Many first-generation PCI Express based platforms are not equipped with a DVI display port, and are facing diminishing availability of VGA embedded displays. These legacy platforms can be upgraded to support one or even two dual independent DVI displays using the ITOX WG-LS3440 PCI Express x16 graphics adapter.
This long-life availability industrial graphics adapter is ideal for embedded applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, including medical, DVR/NVR, ATM/POS, digital signage, industrial control & automation, Kiosk, and Gaming.
